How to cook a tri-tip on a pellet grill. For a propane grill, you turn the knob, press a button to ignite the grill, and wait a few minutes for the grill to heat up. Let sit in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours. The traeger grill takes the uncertainty out of cooking a roast perfectly. A wood pellet grill takes a good 10 to 20 minutes to startup and come to temperature.
