After resting, heat large cast iron skillet on high heat. Then, preheat the skillet at a medium to high temperature, preferably for around 1 minute or so. Carefully flip the steak, placing it in a different section of the skillet.
Let your steaks rest for 5 to 10 minutes and serve. Wait for the oil to heat, it needs to just commence to smoke before adding the steak. Place the steak into the skillet and cook until it’s easily moved.
Your skillet steak recipe is almost ready. Move the steak to the other side of the grill where there are no flames and close the grill for roughly 20 more minutes (see notes for temperature and time.) take the steak off the grill and let rest for. Place tri tip in skillet and brown on all sides.
Place the steak in the skillet and cook 5 minutes, flip and continue to cook another. Heat a large cast iron skillet over medium high heat add olive oil. Heavily season tri tip, cover, and let sit for a while to absorb flavors;
Use a whopping pan in order to smoke steak. Brown it on all sides. Sear meat on all sides over high heat to seal in flavor and juices.
Some folks prefer to sear on the grill grates and get those nice grill marks, but i. Get the pan nice and hot, you can add the oil.
